Syracuse Police unveil new satellite office in Eastwood

Syracuse Police are opening another satellite office in hopes of giving the community a closer relationship with police.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Syracuse Police are opening another satellite office in hopes of giving the community a closer relationship with police.

On Monday, Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner cut the ribbon at the Eastwood Police Office on James Street. The office will be staffed by three officers to help work with Eastwood residents and business owners.

“The most important tool that any police department has is its connection with its neighborhood,” Mayor Stephanie Miner said. “That’s where we get our information from, that’s how we understand if something unusual is happening in the neighborhood and that’s how people can stop by and get to know their police officers and get to know what’s going on in the neighborhood.”

The new location was formerly a trailer used by police, but the building can now not only house police, but can also be used by the community and neighborhood watch groups.
