Ithaca (WSYR-TV) – A Syracuse man is in custody after police say he stole a vehicle and struck one of their unmarked cars in Ithaca on Thursday afternoon.

Three officers were injured during the incident, in which 53-year-old David Manzi sped through the city of Ithaca, including traveling the wrong way down one-way streets, police say.

The officers' injuries were mostly “bumps and bruises,” according to a department spokesman, and they did not require an ambulance.

Police caught up with Manzi after he abandoned the car and ran into a nearby apartment complex.

Police are still determining what charges Manzi will face, but they say he could face multiple felony charges.

He has already told police he is a longtime cocaine user.

While in custody, police say he acted in a manner consistent with drug abuse, although they stressed a Drug Recognition Expert had not examined him at that time.
