Town of Trenton supervisor charged with sex crime involving child

Police are investigating Trenton Town Supervisor Mark Scheidelman, who they believe had sexual contact with a child under the age of 11.
Trenton (WSYR-TV) – Police are investigating Trenton Town Supervisor Mark Scheidelman, who they believe had sexual contact with a child under the age of 11.

Police charged Scheidelman, 52, with one count of sex abuse in the first degree, a felony.

He was arraigned in Town of Floyd Court and taken to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Scheidelman has been involved in Trenton town government since 1981. He has served the municipality as town supervisor since 1992, according to the Town of Trenton website.

He has also served as the Oneida County Republican Party chairman.
