Hastings (WSYR-TV) - Twins worked together, attempting to rob a gas station in Hastings on Saturday night, according to New York State Police.

A cashier told troopers a masked man entered Mirabito Gas Station on Route 11 around 7:30 p.m. and demanded money.  The clerk believed the man was holding a black handgun.  Eventually, the suspect left the store without any cash.

Investigators later arrested twin brothers in connection with the attempted armed robbery.  Police believe John X. Bonanni, 27, went inside the store with a BB gun replica of a semi-automatic pistol.  He's charged with first degree attempted robbery.

Damian Bonanni is charged with fourth degree conspiracy because investigators believe he drove his twin brother to and from the gas station.

The brothers were arraigned in the Town of Parish Court and sent to Oswego County Jail on $2,500 cash / $5,000 bond bail. They'll head back to court in Hastings on January 2, 2013.
