Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - For the first time ever, the Air National Guard's 174th Attack Wing will operate a drone at Hancock Field.

The MQ-9 Reaper won’t be in the air, instead there will be a taxiing exercise on the runway at the National Guard air base on Tuesday.

The FAA still needs to approve take-offs and landings for the unmanned aircraft at Hancock.

All MQ-9 flights have been out of Fort Drum.
