18-year-olds charged in connection with massive Watertown fire

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Two 18-year-olds are facing charges in connection with a massive fire in Watertown that injured two firefighters.

Scott Munson of Watertown and John Long of Brownville were arrested on Tuesday and charged with:

- Fourth-degree arson

- First-degree assault

- First-degree reckless endangerment

The fire broke out at the building on Newell Street around 6 p.m. on Monday.

The building was owned by the Samaritan Medical Center – it had been vacant for some time.

The two firefighters were injured when a wall collapsed.

One of the injured firefighters was taken to Upstate University Hospital with a broken pelvis.

The pair were held pending arraignment.
