2 charged in Cortland graffiti investigation; other suspects sought

CORTLAND, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Cortland Police have arrested two men on felony charges in connection with their investigation into a rash of graffiti drawings scrawled on buildings throughout the city.

They are still looking for at least one other graffiti vandal who uses the tag “SIER,” and whose picture is posted on the department’s Facebook page.

They believe the other suspects are juveniles.

22-year-old Mark Southworth and 21-year-old Jacob Vassalotti are facing an array of  misdemeanor graffiti and conspiracy charges.

However, both men are also charged with felony criminal mischief and burglary charges for allegedly breaking into buildings and spraying graffiti on property.

They say Southworth used the tag “RUSH,” while Vassalotti used the tag “SPILZ.”

Southworth was released on his own recognizance, while Vassalotti was taken to jail.
