A Yankees legend will be joining the Syracuse Chiefs for their annual Hot Stove Dinner on Friday.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Ron Guidry will be the guest speaker at the event at the Oncenter, which runs from 5 to 9 p.m.

Guidry had a short career in the minor leagues and pitched in Syracuse for parts of the 1975 and 1976 seasons. 

He was elected to the Syracuse Chiefs Baseball Wall of Fame in 2006.

He had a 14-year career in the majors, all with the New York Yankees.

He was commonly referred to by the nicknames “Louisiana Lightning” and “Gator.”

Guidry’s career record was 170-91.  He was a 4-times All-Star, 2-times World Series Champion, a 5-times Gold Glove winter and he won the AL Cy Young Award in 1978.
