Are those National Grid inspection tags left on your door a scam: Your Stories

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - The Your Stories team has heard new concerns about people leaving door tags, claiming they need to get inside your home for a National Grid inspection.

Usually, that's a big red flag for scams.

National Grid says if you found a tag on your door over the weekend, it’s the real deal.

You should look for the word “Premier”— that’s a contractor hired to perform corrosion inspections on gas piping and meters inside homes.

Keep in mind, scammers can duplicate these tags with fake phone numbers to fool you.

So, you can always call 1-888-802-2010 to confirm information from the inspector's ID badge.

Either way, you don't have to let them in.
