AUBURN, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Auburn Police say one teenager who disappeared from Cayuga Centers has been found dead in Chautauqua County, while another who was last seen there is still being sought.
In February, police asked for the public’s help in finding 17-year-old Destani Williams.
Auburn Police indicated that she had been located in Monroe County in April.
However, on May 15, both Williams and another teenager, Morgan Eppinger, disappeared from the facility.
On Saturday, May 20, they were told that Williams had brought to a hospital in Dunkirk, N.Y.
Police initially thought both Williams and Eppinger were separate cases.
Auburn Police Chief Shawn Butler says they are working with Dunkirk Police, who also believe the teens were together.
But Eppinger’s cell phone located her near Williams in Dunkirk.
Auburn Police are particularly concerned about Eppinger in the wake of Williams' death.
"Due to the sudden unexpected death of Destani, and the limited information surrounding her death, there is a heightened sense of urgency to locate Morgan Eppinger and ensure that she is safe," police said in a new press release.
Police say she may still be in Chauttauqua, or headed to the village of Fredonia, Monroe County, the city of Rochester, or North Carolina.
