Baldwinsville man arrested for impersonating a police officer during a traffic stop

BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - A Baldwinsville man was arrested on Monday when State Police say he claimed to be a law enforcement officer during a traffic stop.

48-year-old Anthony Carbonaro was pulled over on Wolf Street in the Town of Salina for a vehicle and traffic violation.

During the stop, Carbonaro allegedly showed the trooper a police badge, saying he was a federal police officer. The badge was determined to be fake.

A forged Sheriff’s Office ID card, a rifle, handcuffs and a tactical vest were found during a search of Carbonaro’s car.

He was charged with criminal impersonation of a police officer, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.

He is due back in Town of Salina court on Nov. 30.
