Bed Bug found in Baldwinsville school

VAN BUREN, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - A bed bug was identified in Ray Middle School in the Baldwinsville school district the Superintendent’s office confirmed.

In a letter to parents, the office said one bug was found, and the district following guidelines from Ehrlich Pest Control, the Department of Education, and the county health department to deal with the situation.

They say the custodial staff has been thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting each room.

In addition, they say the staff is trying to make sure it is an isolated incident.

According the district says that the bugs did not originate in the school and that bed bugs are carried in.

As a precaution, they are asking people in the district to place their children’s clothing in a dryer for 40 minutes or to store the clothing in a plastic bag.
