Forecast: A bright sun warms us up a little today

We'll enjoy a couple of days of dry weather

SYRACUSE (WSYR-TV) - - Sunshine, dry, light wind = a great Wednesday!
- Highs in the 50s today.
- Not too bad Thursday either.
- Could turn damp Friday.
- Unfortunately some showers will arrive for mom this weekend.

Sunshine, warmer today:

We finally have a break in this stagnant chilly, cloudy, rainy weather patter we’ve been stuck in for almost a week. High pressure has returned and will keep our weather relatively nice today and tomorrow.

The sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures will be a welcomed sight.

Temperatures will rise into the 50s this afternoon. While it is warmer today, we’re still running about 10-13 degrees below normal.

Not bad Thursday too:

There will be limited sun to shine Thursday.

Highs will be close to 60 Thursday, but still below the upper 60s, which is average for almost the middle of May.

Turning wet again for mom this weekend:

A trough of low pressure will near the region Friday and possibly lead to some showers developing from west to east later in the day.

Unfortunately, some rain is looking more and more likely for Mother’s Day weekend thanks to a coastal storm.

The wettest day out of the two weekend days looks like Saturday. However Sunday is still looking damp with occasional rain showers. At this time it might be wise to make indoor plans for Mom this weekend.

Flood warning:

The Lake Shore flood warnings have been cancelled for now. We’ll keep you posted if they go into effect again this week, but they should not for at least a little while.

However, a flood warning remains in effect until further notice for Cayuga Lake at Ithaca in Tompkins County. At 10am Wednesday the stage was 383.6 feet. Flood stage is 383.5 feet. The lake level will remain steady around flood stage for at least the next few days.
