CICERO (WSYR-TV) - Cicero-North Syracuse marching band is getting ready for one of its biggest performances in school history.
The team will be heading to New York City for the St. Patrick’s Day parade as the official guest band of the grand marshal— they’ll be escorting him throughout the parade route.
The parade will be seen by millions of people around the country.
“We are mainly a competition band— we definitely do local parades and things, but the bulk of our season is about competition,” said Karen Seamans, the band’s director. “This something new for us, but it’s also a huge scale and there’s going to be a ton of spectators watching us, so it’s still really important that we have our lines straight, we’re playing well and that we look good.”
The parade is the oldest in the country, dating back to 1762.
