Camillus man suspected in drunk driving hit and run in the city pleads not guilty

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - A 55-year-old Camillus man suspected of drunkenly striking a teenager with his car and then driving off pleaded not guilty in Syracuse City Court on Wednesday.

James Draveck faces charges including driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a serious personal injury crash, and first-degree vehicular assault.

The crash occurred around 6:20 p.m. Tuesday on the 300 block of West Bear Street in the city of Syracuse.

Police say Draveck fled the scene, but officers were able to locate him and his vehicle based on information from a witness.

The 15-year-old boy suffered apparent leg fractures as well as head and facial injuries. He was sent to Upstate University Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

Draveck was jailed in lieu of $7,500 cash bail or bond.

He is scheduled to return to court on Feb. 17 for a preliminary hearing.
