Child injured in Utica crash dies

UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR-TV) - A child who was severely injured in an accident Wednesday evening in Utica has died.

The child was hurt when an SUV backing out of a driveway in Utica's Cornhill Section struck their bicycle.

The accident occurred on Boyce Ave, near Steuben Street.

Utica Deputy Police Chief Edward Noonan told WUTR-TV that police were called to 132 Boyce Ave at 5:37pm Wednesday.

When they arrived they found the 6-year-old child had been severely injured.

A reporter at the scene noted that the bicycle was wedged under the SUV.

The identity of the child has not been released.
