SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Citing safety concerns, the city of Syracuse has denied a permit for a rally for ACT for America – an organization the Southern Poverty Law Center describes as anti-Muslim.
Officials noted that two other major events are being held on the same day that the permit had been requested for – a Syracuse University football game and Irish festival.
The city says “public health and safety concerns” prompted the move.
The city noted that both the SU game and the Irish festival will require a significant police presence.
