The Sheriff’s Office says a deputy pulled the truck over near the intersection of Bolivar and Fyler roads in the town of Sullivan around 2:40 a.m. after an erratic driver was reported.
William Brightman, 44, of Fayetteville was charged with:
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 2nd Degree, a felony
- Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine in the 3rd Degree, a felony
Brightman was taken to the Madison County Jail on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
He was also ticketed for a hit-and-run involving property, which deputies say occurred Monday night.
A 52-year-old Cicero man – Brian Machnik – was arrested and charged with Criminally Possessing a Hypodermic Instrument, a misdemeanor.
Machnik was given an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in Town of Sullivan Court on July 1.
Fyler Road was shut down after methamphetamine equipment and chemicals were allegedly found in the rear of the truck.
Investigators said they also found a hypodermic needle and hydrocodone pills in one suspect’s boot.
Fire personnel and State Police also responded to the scene.
They reopened the road at about 7 a.m.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking people to call them if they see any suspicious activity that could be connected to drug use.
