SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Syracuse’s fast growing Corso’s Cookies is looking to undergo a major expansion.
The company makes decorated cookies for some of the biggest retailers in the U.S.
One of the places the company is looking to construct its new facility is in part of the former New Venture Gear plant.
The plan is to partner with OCC under New York State’s Excelsior business program – formerly called Start-Up New York.
"So they'd like to produce more of their product and they're looking to work with the college to set up a fairly robust internship program for our students so we maintain a number of educational programs that are directly relevant to food manufacturing,” said OCC Vice President for Administration and Compliance Anastasia Urtz.
In turn, the company would receive some of tax incentives for this partnership.
Urtz says they do intend to seek state approval to complete the new project under the expanded new program.
They hope to occupy the new facility by the end of the year.
