Garbage truck driver says faulty brakes caused him to crash into Tully home

TULLY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - A garbage truck driver told Sheriff's deputies that a brake failure caused him to crash the truck into a Tully home on Tuesday morning.

According to deputies, the 25-year-old driver was traveling north on Strong Road when he failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Route 80.

The truck then continued across Route 80 where it then crashed into a home on the road.

The driver sustained a minor leg injury and was able to be treated at the scene.

The impact from the collision caused significant damage to the house. It took crews several hours to get the truck out of the house.

The homeowner, who was inside at the time of the crash, was not injured.

Deputies are still investigating the incident.

No one has been charged yet in the incident.
