Cuomo announces State of Emergency as winter storm hits NYS

ALBANY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced on Monday that New York State will enter a state of emergency “starting at midnight.”

The Governor announced the development via Twitter shortly after 4:30 p.m.

Cuomo has directed non-essential state employees to stay home Tuesday.

The state of emergency covers all 62 counties in New York State.

The New York City metropolitan area is bracing for a major blizzard.

Central New Yorkers will not see the same caliber of storm, but current projections are at 10-18 inches of snow over the course of two days.
