Deadline set for claiming ‘abandoned' Chiefs shares

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - The New York State Comptroller’s Office says people who believe they own Syracuse Chiefs shares that may have been deemed abandoned must contact their office by Nov. 27.

If you do not meet the deadline, you will only be entitled to the $19 value of the shares when they were initially turned over to the state as abandoned property.

Either way you will not be able to vote on the sale of the team to the New York Mets.

If approved by shareholders, professional baseball, and Onondaga County, the sale to the Mets is expected to close in December.

The vote is scheduled to occur on Nov. 17.

To contact the Comptroller’s office, call 1-800-221-9311.
