Deputies: 19-year-old sent several text messages to 911 reporting fake incidents

GEDDES, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - A Geddes teen has been arrested for allegedly falsely reporting “several fictitious incidents” to 911, the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to deputies, 19-year-old Adam Dedrick sent multiple 911 text requests for emergency services between Oct. 4 and Oct. 17.

Several of these texts -- including “the need for an ambulance,” “shots fired” and “active shooter” incidents-- required rapid response from emergency crews.

Dedrick was charged with five counts of third-degree falsely reporting an incident and two counts of second-degree falsely reporting an incident.

He was released on an appearance ticket and will re-appear in Geddes Town Court.

Deputies say Dedrick was charged for a similar incident back in April.
