Update: East Side 'police incident' resolved

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Syracuse Police say a suspicious, possibly armed man prompted a notification from 911 urging East Side residents to stay in their homes.

Shortly before 7 p.m., police say they were called to the area of Sherbourne Road and Crawford Avenue for complaints of a man acting erratically and yelling outside.

The caller told police the man may have been armed.

The man entered his residence and police set up a perimeter around the home, due to the possibility that he was armed.

Police were finally able to make contact with the man via phone. He exited his residence and had no weapons on him, police said.

The man was taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation.

There were no injuries during the incident and no criminal charges have been filed.
