Erin Maxwell's killer denied parole

OSWEGO, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - An Oswego County man who strangled his stepsister to death in 2009 has been denied parole.

Initially convicted of murder for the death of Erin Maxwell, Alan Jones’ charge was reduced to manslaughter in 2012.

He was resentenced to 5 to 15 years in prison.

Jones is scheduled for a conditional release in October 2018.

This marks the third time Jones has been denied parole.

Jones was previously denied parole in 2013 and 2015.

In April 2017, Oswego County District Attorney Greg Oakes wrote a letter to the parole board asking them to keep Jones behind bars.
