Expert: Expect a delay on some tax refunds

DEWITT, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Many Central New Yorkers are rushing to complete their tax returns in hopes of receiving a tax refund this time of year.

But Financial Analyst Rick Reagan warns that some people should expect a delay this year.

According to Reagan, people who’ve applied for either the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Child Tax Credit will likely see a delay on their return.

Reagan says the wait “isn’t too bad.”

Under the new tax rules, Reagan says, you shouldn’t expect your refund before Feb. 15 at the earliest.

The IRS warns that the refunds will release on that date, but it may not show up in filers’ accounts until the week of Feb. 27.

Reagan appears regularly on NewsChannel 9.
