Extraordinary Talent of the Week: Lucien Hale

MANLIUS (WSYR-TV) - Ever since he saw Phantom of the Opera, Lucien Hale has been dreaming of playing the starring role. His dream came true in his senior year at F-M high school.

"My heart stopped for a minute and it just went boom bursting with happiness. I was overwhelmed," Lucien said he felt when he found out he got the part.

Lucien says this is his dream role because "the Phantom is such a unique and artistic character."

Unique and artistic characters are his specialty.

Where does that talent come from? Lucien says it's his autism.

"Well my autism actually is a gift. Like I can come up with a story right now this very second with a full plot line and characters and everything because my mind is constantly making things like that that that off the bat and my dad says that's a gift that many don't have," he said.

And this gift, it's equally rare... for Lucien, music is a blank sheet of paper. His voice is the pencil.

When asked if he knows what an inspiration to others with autism, Lucien responds, "No, I didn't. Of course anyone can do anything as long as they just try and keep going forward and just believe in themselves."
