Gov: Madison County plastics plant expansion will add dozens of jobs

CANASTOTA, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - An expansion at a local plastics plant will mean dozens of new full-time jobs over the next few years, according to a statement from the Governor’s office.

Dutchland Plastics is adding 50,000 square feet to its facility in Canastota, paving the way for 42 new jobs, in addition to the 23 positions already in place.

According to Governor Andrew Cuomo, the expansion should be completed by the end of 2019.

"We are very excited about this expansion," said Dutchland CEO Randy Herman.  "This is a tremendous opportunity and I want to thank Governor Cuomo, Madison County Industrial Development Agency Executive Director Kipp Hicks, and especially Canastota Mayor Carla DeShaw, who will be assigning resources to help the Company recruit and train requisite new hires from the local community."

The Governor’s office says the expansion is a result of a $475,000 in performance-based tax credits through Empire State Development’s Excelsior Jobs Program.
