Oswego (WSYR-TV) – Oswego County says it will spray for mosquitoes for the second time this season after EEE was confirmed in five samples collected from the Central Square, West Monroe, and Palermo areas.

The county sprayed for mosquitoes near Oneida Lake last Friday.

They have not said when the second spraying campaign will be conducted.

The second spraying campaign will be in the towns of Hastings, Mexico, New Haven, Palermo, and Volney.

The county said spraying will be conducted over the course of two evenings because of the size of the area.

Officials say they will notify the public through local media as well as the county website once they have confirmed a date for spraying.

Residents can minimize the mosquito populations around their homes by reducing standing water and places where water can collect.

More details on EEE and other viruses transmitted by mosquitoes can be found on the Oswego County Health Department’s website.
