Home repair scammer headed back to prison

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - A former NewsChannel 9 Fugitive of the Week who took money for home construction repairs without completing the work is heading back to prison.

Jesse Stokes was sentenced to one and one half to three years in prison for scheme to defraud.

Initially, the case was headed to trial, but Stokes pleaded guilty to first-degree scheme to defraud in January 2017.

In January 2014, Stokes was able to avoid prison time when he paid back his dozens of victims.

After that case, other victims stepped forward.
