How lake effect snow works

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Onondaga Lake is too small to have much of an impact on weather in Central New York, but Lake Ontario, on the other hand, has a significant impact on weather across the region during the fall and winter seasons.

Lake Ontario is not only responsible for producing significant lake effect snow, but also is the main culprit for producing the cloudiest months of the year in Central New York-- November and December.
