NewsChannel 9 expands local news with 4 p.m. newscast hosted by Carrie Lazarus

East Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - WSYR-TV NewsChannel 9, Syracuse and Central New York’s premier choice for local news, announced today that beginning Monday, September 15, 2014, it will expand upon the station’s award-winning local news programming with the launch of the market’s first 4:00 p.m. newscast. NewsChannel 9 – First at Four will provide local viewers a fast-paced look at the day’s headlines including developing local and regional news and the most accurate weather forecasting for Central New York. In addition, First at Four will feature a highly interactive delivery style, inviting viewers to participate and interact with First at Four anchor Carrie Lazarus and the station’s team of dedicated local reporters.

Broadcasting live from NewsChannel 9 studios, the new 30-minute 4:00 p.m. newscast will air weekdays and will be anchored by award-winning broadcast journalist and NewsChannel 9 veteran anchor Carrie Lazarus. First at Four will deliver the most compelling and informative local news of the day to Central New York viewers, including the latest stories and topics trending on the web and social media. First at Four will also feature the NewsChannel 9 Storm Team, who will provide Central New York’s most accurate weather forecast an hour earlier, helping local viewers stay up-to-date on the latest weather developments and severe storm alerts.

NewsChannel 9's veteran anchor Carrie Lazarus has more than 30 years of experience serving local communities across greater Central New York. In addition to hosting First at Four, she will continue to perform her 5:00 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. evening co-anchor duties.

Currently WSYR NewsChannel 9 features The Morning News from 4:30 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., the only local Noon News broadcast and beginning September 15, 2014, the only local news at 4:00 p.m. In addition, NewsChannel 9 also features evening news programming at 5:00 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 6:00 p.m., as well as Eleven at 11, and an additional 10:00 p.m. newscast on its sister station MeTV Channel 9.2.
