SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - In just one week, people across America will be looking up at the sky hoping to see a moment that for many comes only once in a long time.
And the glasses you’ll need to safely look at the solar eclipse are becoming a hot commodity.
Every store NewsChannel 9 reached out to on Monday said they’re out of the special glasses, and the challenge of finding them has become more challenging after Amazon announced that it’s giving refunds because it can’t verify the manufacturers of many of the glasses it's selling.
People looking to get glasses may also want to ask their local library. NewsChannel 9's heard from a few with supplies left.
To know your glasses are real, make sure the manufacturer is on the approved list. If it's not, it might be risky to use them.
Counterfeit glasses might not protect eyes from ultraviolet and infrared waves.
