19-year-old accused of sexual assault after jumping into woman's vehicle

Prince Royal-Clanton charged with kidnapping, robbery & criminal sex act

TOWN OF CLAY (WSYR-TV) - A 19-year old Liverpool man is accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman after a chance encounter on a street corner.

Believing she'd hit a pedestrian, deputies say an Oswego County woman tried to check on the man when he suddenly forced her door shut and jumped into the back seat of her vehicle.

She described the initial point of contact as the corner of John Glenn Boulevard and Oswego Road in the Town of Clay. It was 5 p.m. on Thursday. Witnesses began calling 911, according to deputies.

The woman later told investigators that the man robbed her, claimed he had a weapon, and instructed her to drive to a nearby parking lot where she was sexually assaulted.

After he ran away, the 36-year-old woman said she immediately called 911 and drove to Glenn Crossing Mall to meet with deputies.

With the help of the victim and those witnesses on John Glenn Boulevard, deputies say they put together enough clues to find their suspect at his home.

19-year-old Prince Royal-Clanton of Liverpool is charged with kidnapping, robbery, and criminal sex act. Bail is set at $75,000 cash or $150,000 bond.
