19-year-old ticketed in 481 rollover crash that critcally injured 2-year-old twins

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - The 19-year-old driver of a vehicle that rolled over and crashed on Tuesday has been ticketed for the incident, which left 2-year-old twins in critical condition.

The twins, a brother and sister, were thrown from the car during the crash.

According to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, the twins were not wearing proper restraints, and 19-year-old driver Gerald Johnson was ticketed.

The crash occurred shortly before 1 a.m. on Route 481 near the South Bay Road overpass bridge when Johnson lost control of the vehicle, struck a guiderail and drove off the median where the vehicle rolled over several times, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Johnson and three other passengers – a 15-year-old girl, a 13-year-old girl, and a 6-year-old boy – all suffered what deputies described as “minor injuries.”

Johnson also willingly submitted a blood sample for testing, according to deputies.
