5th person arrested in connection with murder of 20-year-old in Jefferson County

TOWN OF PAMELIA, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - State Police have arrested a fifth person who they believe was involved in the murder of 20-year-old Jefferson County resident, Tyler Johnson.

On May 18, troopers responded to a home on State Route 37 in the Town of Pamelia regarding reports that someone was shot inside the home.

Troopers found Johnson in a bedroom with a gun shot wound. He was airlifted to SUNY Upstate Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

26-year-old Shawn Moore Jr. was arrested in Winter Garden, Florida on Monday in connection with Johnson’s death. He has been charged with second-degree murder.

Moore will be returned to Jefferson County to be arraigned on these charges at a later date.

At this time, Moore Jr. is the fifth person arrested in connection with the death of Tyler Johnson.

Jamaal Carr, Sammy Brown, Taylor Beckstead and Devin Hunter Davis have also been previously arrested in connection with Johnson’s death. They were all charged with second-degree murder.

The New York State Police are interested in speaking to any person that had direct contact with any of these identified individuals, and who may have knowledge of any event that led up to the death of Tyler Johnson.
