Police identify 2nd grader who was struck and killed by a truck in New Hartford

NEW HARTFORD (WSYR-TV) - The New Hartford Police have identified the 8-year-old who was killed after being hit by a truck in a mall parking lot.

Logan Lints, a second grader at the Westmoreland Central School District, was hit by a truck that was backing out of a parking space at the Sangertown Mall on Sunday.

The accident occurred just before 2 p.m.

The boy suffered severe injuries and was taken to the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The Westmoreland Central School district sent a letter to parents confirming that the boy killed was a second-grader in their school district.

The New Hartford Police Department was assisted by the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.

The investigation is still ongoing.

According to police, Lints was hit by a 19-year-old.

The 19-year-old has not been charged or ticketed at this point.
