SYRACUSE (WSYR-TV) - A Syracuse event promoter's hope to fill a need for "unique" entertainment options in the city is starting to become a reality on East Fayette St.
The Spark Contemporary Art Space has been around for years, but over the summer Patrick Tuohey took over the organization as a co-owner.
"What Syracuse has been missing is that sort of small capacity artistic music space that is accessible to the pros and people just looking to get their feet wet," Tuohey said.
The goal is for the space to be used in a variety of different ways, from art installations and performances to a book and music shop.
Tuohey hopes to sell coffee in the future as well and open the space up for organizations to hold rehearsals or events.
Similar projects have expressed interest in occupying nearby space as well due to rapid development surrounding the SU hill.
"Hopefully this whole area can become one big cohesive vision," Tuohey said.
Spark is currently seeking donations for renovations. You can make one here.
