Another daily record Saturday brings the fair closer to another overall record

The current overall record, set last year, is 1.12-million

GEDDES (WSYR-TV) - The New York State Fair is perched right on the edge of another all-time attendance record, with two days to go.

Fair officials say 121,203 people attended the fair on Saturday. That alone is a record for the second Saturday of the fair....squeaking past the old record by 39 people!

For those keeping score, it's the third time the fair has announced a daily record this year. But don't confuse daily records with overall records. They're different.

The fair breaks down attendance based on the day of the week...so the latest "daily record" only applies to the second Saturday of the fair...throughout it's history. Got it?

However...it looks like some bigger records will be claimed too.

On the first Sunday of the event this year, a spokesman reported that 123,206 people visited the fair. That's the most visitors ever recorded on a single day....ever...any day of the week.

Here's the bottom line though: There's a real good chance the overall attendance record will be broken this year. That's the record for all days of the fair combined.

So far, fair officials say 962,596 people have attended the 2017 season.

Last year, 1.12-million people attended, which is the standing record.

Governor Cuomo swept into town, declaring a series of dollar deals, pushing the numbers higher as parking woes frustrated the storm of visitors....who packed I-690 anyway on Saturday.

Keep in mind,  there are two concerts left. Migos performs on Sunday. Kool & The Gang performs Monday.

Admission Labor Day is $1 and all rides on the Midway are $1.

There's little doubt attendance will hit the million mark this year. The question is - how high will it go from there?
