Auburn Police: Customer attacks gas station workers with baseball bat

Workers say another customer held the suspect until help arrived

AUBURN (WSYR-TV) - Two women working at a gas station in Auburn say a customer hit them with an aluminum baseball bat Saturday, after he'd been kicked out of the store earlier in the morning.

The suspect, later identified as Ian McMahon, is accused of returning to the Kwik Fill on Genesee Street around 10 a.m. to confront an employee.

Police were told he hit a second worker as she tried to stop the attack. Then, another customer jumped in to grab the bat and hold McMahon until help arrived.

The workers are being treated for injuries on their hands, arms, and backs.

McMahon is in the Cayuga County Jail, charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
