Baby Bootcamp focuses on fitness for families

SYRACUSE (WSYR-TV) - New moms don't have to be stuck inside all spring and summer. A baby boot camp is now offering exercise classes that keep the little one close.

Families were invited to try it out for free Saturday, with a stroller fitness class at Fleet Feet Sports in East Syracuse.

A 5-k training program is also being offered, allowing parents to run with their babies in a stroller.

They'll teach moms and dads how to run safely with a stroller at any fitness level.

"Prenatal and postpartum women can come with their babies and get a great workout in, while having their babies right with them. So, they don't have to leave them at daycare or leave them at home or figure out another place for them," said instructor Kate Jwaskiewicz.

5-k training starts Tuesday night at 6 pm at Onondaga Lake Parkway. It lasts for eight weeks.
