LYONS, N.Y. (WROC-TV) - The Lyons Town Supervisor and his wife faced a frightening situation over the weekend. Crystal Manktelow says she and her husband were sitting at home on Saturday when they suddenly heard a loud sound coming from the bedroom.
Upon investigating, they found holes in their walls with wood and other debris strewn about the room.
The couple then learned of a group of nearby hunters had taken a shot at a deer, missed, and hit their home. When her husband asked the hunters about it, Manktelow says they admitted it was them.
"I honestly thought that the house was falling apart, that was my first reaction," she said. "It was so loud, so deafening, very scary. I jumped out of my seat!"
The hunters are facing a criminal mischief charge for the incident. Manktelow says they were very remorseful, and doesn't believe there was any ill intent.
