Chestnut Hill Middle school reopens following major upgrades

LIVERPOOL (WSYR-TV) - On Thursday Chestnut Hill Middle School reopened for the first day of school following two-years of renovations.

The work is part of a multi-phase capital project that includes upgrades to the elementary and high school.

Changes include new classrooms, library, and gymnasium; the building also replaced all the floors, ceilings, lockers, the roof and installed a new boiler and climate control system.

"We also have walls that can open up and combine into large learning spaces," explained Dr. Mark Potter, the district superintendent. "Our cafeteria is convertible for performances; we've replaced the bleachers in the gym so that can be used for sport functions."

All upgrades are anticipated to be finished by 2020.
