CICERO (WSYR-TV) - NewsChannel 9 is the first to learn that construction on Central New York's first Chick-fil-A restaurant is set to begin in early August.
The popular fast-food chicken restaurant will open on Route 11 in Cicero, in front of Home Depot.
A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for the week of August 7th, likely on Wednesday, Aug. 9.
The announcement comes after a delay in construction because of Chick-fil-A's corporate ownership.
“The delay is due to Chick-Fil-A’s corporate. I got an education from them. They have a corporate office that actually does site selection, before they award the franchise to a franchisee,” said Cicero Town Supervisor Mark Venesky.
Corporate picked a location before they picked an operator. Now, the owner chosen is Anthony Szatkowski, who will move to Central New York.
