SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - A class action lawsuit has been filed against the James Square Health and Rehabilitation Centre, which is already under investigation by the State Attorney General.
The new suit alleges that inadequate staffing has caused mistreatment of patients, most alarming patients "lying in their own fecal matter and urine for hours at a time."
The law suit was filed by two people: one current resident of James Square, the other the son of a woman who died while living at James Square.
If it's certified by the court, every person living at James Square now and for the past three years will become part of the case.
The case seeks to improve the treatment at the nursing home.
The attorneys representing the two victims are asking others with stories to come forward.

NewsChannel 9 reached out to James Square and their attorney Emil Rossi says he doesn't comment on pending litigation. He adds that there are always efforts underway to improve patient care and that, generally, there are many satisfied patients at the nursing home.
