NORTH SYRACUSE (WSYR-TV) - It's been four days since bridal chain Alfred Angelo filed for bankruptcy and abruptly closed its doors without warning -- leaving many brides and bridesmaids frantically searching for replacement gowns.
Central New York bridal stores have already seen a jump in business as a result including New York Bride & Company which has seen or spoken with more than two dozen people in need of a dress since the closure Thursday.
New York Bride & Company and David's Bridal also have discounted dresses and are waiving rush fees to help impacted customers.
On Sunday Alfred Angelo broke its silence with a statement and apology that said:
"Alfred Angelo filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on July 14, 2017. As a result, all stores and wholesalers are closed. Margaret Smith was appointed Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustee. If you wish to be contacted regarding your order status once information is available please send an email to: email@example.com. We will post additional information regarding the status of dresses on this web-site as it becomes available. We apologize for the inconvenience and hardship resulting from this event. We appreciate your patience. Thank you."
