Cool Schools: Baldwinsville students take a step back in time

BALDWINSVILLE (WSYR-TV) - At Durgee Junior High School in Baldwinsville, 9th graders taking materials processing, recently took a step back in time and technology.

Teacher Jason Lloyd held the Tech Olympics for his students, giving them an opportunity to use hand tools that they have probably never seen before.

They rolled up their sleeves and put some elbow grease into using a hand planer instead of an electric planer and jointer, a rotary hand drill instead of a cordless drill, a hand saw, and a folding ruler instead of a tape measure.

Students use hand tools before they learn how to use modern electric tools so they can build an appreciation for today's technology.
