Cornell University investigating assault involving racial slurs

ITHACA, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - In Ithaca, Cornell University Police are asking for help as they investigate reports that three students were assaulted early Saturday morning.

Officers were called to the intersection of Eddy Street and Dryden Road around 1:30 a.m. Several people told them a student was harassed and assaulted by a man using racial slurs. Two other students say they were attacked after trying to intervene.

Detectives describe the suspect as a white, college-aged man, about 5'9" tall. They say he has dirty blond hair, and was wearing a New England Patriots windbreaker at the time of the attack.

Detectives were told he took off with at least two other men.
