Crunch fall into 0-2 hole after 2OT loss in Grand Rapids

Griffins beat Syracuse 6-5 in second extra session

GRAND RAPIDS (WSYR-TV) - The Syracuse Crunch is now in a two-games-to-none series hole, after losing in Grand Rapids 6-5 in double overtime.

Michael Bournival tied the game at 5-5 with under five minutes to play in regulation, before Ben Street won it for the Griffins in double OT.

The series shifts back to Syracuse for Games 3 and 4 beginning on Wednesday night inside the War Memorial.

Game 2 in Michigan featured six ties and a total of 95 saves between the two starting goalies.

Syracuse's Mike McKenna stopped 45 of the 51 shots he faced, while Grand Rapids' Jared Coreau saved 50 out of 55 shots.

Coreau was especially impressive in the first overtime, turning aside 16 Crunch shots on net.

Syracuse got 5 goals from 5 different skaters, and mutli-point efforts out of Bournival, captain Erik Condra, and Yanni Gourde.

Street led the Griffins with 2 scores and an assist -- his second goal being the game-winner.

With the win, Grand Rapids remains unbeaten at home in the postseason.

The Crunch is also perfect inside the War Memorial these playoffs.

Game 3 is set to begin at 7pm on Wednesday night.
