SYRACUSE (WSYR-TV) - Design a mural to give the city of Syracuse a facelift and build your brand. That's the pitch by Believe in Syracuse, as the organization looks for mural ideas to spruce up 1022 W. Fayette Street.
Neighborhood groups joined forces in an effort to revitalize an area that they see as a growing arts district between Tipperary Hil, Downtown Syracuse, and Skunk City.
The forces behind the mural movement want designs that "...spread the message that we have faith in Syracuse and its people. It should increase the emotional connection people feel to the city by celebrating it and inciting a sense of pride within those that view the art", according to the website.
The project has a $20,000 budget. But, organizers believe the artist will enjoy the benefits of having their work exposed to thousands of people across the region.
Ideas are due Friday, March 16.
